MP manifesto pledge to extend Santander Cycles to Richmond

Newly elected MP Sarah Olney promised in her manifesto to fund an extension of London’s bike share scheme to the Borough of Richmond.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the huge support from local residents for bringing cycle hire into the heart of Richmond. This plan would cut congestion, improve air quality and reduce overcrowding on public transport,” she told the Evening Standard.

The cost of extension is estimated at £2m for Boroughs who will need to pay Transport for London to fund the capital costs of bikes and infrastructure, and also the costs of redistribution and maintenance.
