Responsible
car use is about reducing the impact of
cars on society and the environment. Those
impacts are many and diverse and occur throughout the life cycle of a car,
from its manufacture, throughout its working life, to its eventual disposal.
The activities of Carplus are broad to reflect the diversity of the issues involved in promoting responsibility. These embrace:
reducing the need to travel and minimising car use
promoting car clubs, car sharing, and journey planning
advising on vehicle choice and lower carbon fuel technology
The following pages show how Responsible Car Use can be examined from different perspectives and provide examples of good practice.
