The Carplus AGM and the Forum 13 Car Club Seminar

Tuesday 23rd November, 1300 – 1600, Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP

The Carplus AGM 2010 provided members with the opportunity to participate in a review of Carplus’ achievements and developments over the past year.

The Forum 13 Car Club Seminar followed on from the AGM and focussed on two primary themes:

  • The possible synergies between journey sharing and car clubs with an introduction to the new journey sharing provider Rideshark
  • Strategies for developing urban car club plans towards 2015 or 2020

The latter was explored via an interactive workshop led by Chas Ball (Carplus) and Matthew Clark (Steer Davies Gleave), who has looked closely at the limits to growth of car clubs in three London boroughs. Additional input to the workshop was made by Jon Little (*The Project Centre) on the potential for rebalancing the streets between parking and amenity in areas where community support for car clubs is high.

Finally we looked at the issue of funding options for local authority work on car clubs in the period 2011 onwards.
