UITP 3rd Combined Mobility Platform Workshop

9am – 5pm, Monday 27th February, 2012

Transport for London, Palestra (Ground Floor Room), 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ

This workshop aims at convincing public transport decision-makers of the benefits of combined mobility services, show the economic and ecological advantages of partnerships, and highlight areas where coordination is mutually beneficial, with the common and undeniable target to change citizens’ travel behaviour and offer a genuine alternative to the car.

The workshop’s objective is to discuss solutions for modern and flexible urban mobility, and therefore addresses to:

  • Mobility experts;
  • Experts in public transport, but also in the cycling, car-sharing (Car Clubs) and taxi sectors;
  • Cities and municipalities;
  • Public transport organizing authorities and operators;
  • Sustainable mobility providers.

Background

Public transport is being challenged everyday to become a key player in providing ever-more flexible and varied mobility services. Combined Mobility is the answer: services such as car-sharing (Car Clubs), taxis and shared taxis, bicycles and bike-sharing, car-pooling (ride-sharing) are complementing the classic fixed line – and timetable-bound – public transport services and, together with walking, form a complete and coherent mobility solution.
