CUTTING CARBON
Rethinking car use in Yorkshire and the Humber
CARPLUS IS WORKING WITH PARTNERS ON A PROJECT
FOR YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER
Cars
Cutting Carbon, supported by Yorkshire Forward, is creating a region wide car club network to
complement the existing transport
system. Simultaneously increasing choice in how people move around and hitting
carbon reduction targets.
The project is putting Yorkshire and the Humber on the
map as leading the way in rethinking car use in a positive, creative and dynamic
way. It is making towns and city centres become better places to live, work
and visit.
The project provides:
- Advice on incorporating car clubs into policy,
including Local Development Frameworks (LDFs), workplace travel plans, s.106 and local and regional transport
plans.
- The benefit of our experience as the leading authority on
car clubs and responsible car use in the UK.
- Free, targeted, local seminars to explain more about the
Cars Cutting Carbon programme.
- Significant on the ground development help from experienced
Carplus staff - all provided cost free.
CARPLUS IS FORMING PARTNERSHIPS WITH:
- Housing Developers - encourage the consideration of low
impact housing. Incorporating responsible car use will reduce the amount of
parking needed and reduce the traffic impact of new and existing
developments.
- Local Authorities - working with officers including
transport planners, planning control and sustainability. Creating schemes
that will integrate car clubs into transport, development and regeneration.
- Employers - enable them to buy into a car club to provide a
cost effective alternative to car pools and staff allowance systems.
- Car Club Operators - working towards cooperation and
interoperability between car clubs in different locations.
- Public Transport Providers - encourage integration of
existing transport modes with car clubs that will help both become more
sustainable.
- The Public and Community Groups
- to promote the financial,
environmental and health benefits that responsible car use can bring.
This list is not exhaustive, if you would like to get more
information or be involved Carplus would be very happy to hear from you.
