Carplus is supporting
Sustrans' Change
Your World campaign.
As 2008 is Sustrans’ ‘Year of the child’ this year’s campaign will focus on children and highlight the positive impact it would have on their world if adults reduce their car usage. Children today are playing outside much less than previous generations and our busy streets are partly to blame. Change Your World will show how we can all play our part in making change happen, creating a world with cleaner air, quieter roads, less noise and space to play – a world where our children can be free range.
We want people to change just one journey during the first week of July so that they can see how easy it is to change travel behaviour. The campaign demonstrates how, in combination, small individual changes in travel behaviour really do add up and make a big difference, resulting in less congestion, less pollution and less C02 emissions and if you choose to walk or cycle instead, improved health and quality of life.
That the way we travel is impacting on our environment and the world our children are growing up in.
That personal car use is the biggest contributor to transport emissions.
That 60% of all car journeys are less than 5 miles.
That, with the right kind of information, it is possible to change the way people move.
We would welcome your support of the campaign. We would like to get as many people as possible to join in and swap that one car trip during Change Your World week.
