Car Club ToolKit 2004
Setting
up a car club can be a complex process: there are a number of
issues to take into account, and Carplus aims to support
developing clubs by sharing best practice across the network. To
assist with this we have put together a Car Club Toolkit which
covers all aspects of setting up a club through to operational
issues.
The first edition of the Car Club Toolkit was aimed mainly at the community groups which Carplus was working with at the time, although many of the sections were of wider relevance. Since then the benefits of car clubs have become clear to a wide range of organisations - including Local Authorities, housing developers, housing associations, employers, community transport operators and other community groups. Many of these are now the lead organisation or key partner in the development or operation of a car club.
The Toolkit has been extensively revised to reflect this, making it more pertinent to a wide range of different bodies who may be thinking of setting up a car club. It incorporates specific sections aimed at meeting the diverse needs of these groups, and highlights aspects specific to rural or urban areas. It also builds on the experience of car club development across the country over the last few years, including lessons learnt from the rural car club development project, to bring all the existing material up-to-date.
It has 8 sections:
Introduction for different sectors
Roles & Partnerships
Organisational Development
Research & Strategy
Finance
Marketing
Operational Issues
Case Studies
The full Toolkit is only available to members of Carplus for £75 on paper or £50 for a CD version (including post & packing). An introductory set of any five of the code A Tools can be bought by non-members for £10. The same introductory offer is free to members.
